Our Programme

Practical support for
families who care.

Kinship Care Support by Nickelle & Natasha exists to help families who step in to raise relatives' children. We combine our professional social-work knowledge with lived experience to make complex processes clear and emotionally manageable.

"We bridge the gap between families and systems — so kinship carers never have to carry it alone."

— Nickelle & Natasha

The Four Pillars of Support

  • Signposting to additional grants, bursaries and emergency funds available to kinship families.
  • Plain-English explanations of complex financial processes and correspondence.

  • Guidance on multi-agency expectations and how to communicate effectively with social workers.
  • Advocacy support so families can raise concerns and contribute meaningfully to planning.
  • Support with transitions, placement changes and changes to care arrangements.

Emotional Resilience Coaching

Trauma-informed sessions to build secure attachments and wellbeing.

  • Trauma-informed, one-to-one sessions for kinship carers to process the emotional demands of caring.
  • Support for children and young people to understand their story and build a secure sense of identity.
  • Attachment-focused approaches to help carers and children develop safe, trusting relationships.
  • Psychoeducation on the impact of early adversity, loss and transition on children's behaviour.
  • Signposting to therapeutic services and specialist support where needed.

Professional Network Liaison

Keeping plans coordinated across social work, schools and health.

  • Facilitating clear communication between social workers, schools and health professionals.
  • Attending multi-agency meetings alongside families to ensure their voice is heard.
  • Supporting the development of joined-up plans that address the child's full range of needs.
  • Building relationships with local authority teams to reduce bureaucratic barriers for families.
